How to make a slowed and reverb version of a song

A slowed and reverb edit takes a song, plays it slower and wraps it in a large room. The result is dreamy and a little wistful. Here is how to make one in a couple of minutes, and which settings to start from.

Open the maker

Go to the Slowed and reverb maker and drop in your audio file. It is read on your device and never uploaded. Press Preview to listen while you change things.

Start with the preset

The Slowed and reverb preset sets the speed to 80 percent, the reverb to 40 percent and the room to 3 seconds, with a small bass lift. Slowing a song this way also lowers its pitch, exactly like a record played at a lower speed. That lower pitch is part of the sound.

Tune it by ear

Save it

Choose MP3 or WAV and press Save. The file gets a short tail so the reverb can fade out instead of stopping dead. If you want the speed to change without lowering the pitch, use the Pitch and speed changer instead.

Before you post

Check you have the right to share the music you used. Many platforms scan uploads for copyrighted songs. You can trim the start and end first in the Audio cutter.
